Description
This is a Hg/Hg₂SO₄ Reference Electrode which is recommended when the electrolyte's chloride ion is not desired. This reference electrode is a suitable choice for neutral or acidic systems where it is necessary to avoid chloride ion pollution. It is prepared with reagent-grade mercury sulfate and saturated K₂SO₄ solution. The fill solution is saturated K₂SO₄ product name for fill is FS-K2SO4-1. Reference electrodes by design have a porous junction to maintain the electrical path. This means that the fill solution will very slowly leak into the solution being measured. If you are trying to measure chloride that mean that a KCl fill solution in an Ag/AgCl electrode leaking Cl may skew results depending on the concentrates measured. In these instances we recommend using the RE-K2SO4-1 reference electrode.
